Cultural Jamming, an intriguing phrase in my media literate vocabulary ;^), is a fascinating process of taking media (sometimes that already exist) and turning them on themselves. Grassroots artists and organizations often devise witty new media blips that mock their own media.
In my vocational life, I’ve observed some examples of these on the mobile phone, where mobile media unleash the power of cultural jamming to the grassroots individuals who believe that their little bit of jamming can help combat media domination. Here is one example of MeMe-based jamming on mobile wallpapers:
I’ve begun to see that cultural jamming does not necessarily have to be some sort of radical propaganda. In fact, any small piece of media mockery could be counted as a cultural jam. It occurred to me that I could be a cultural jammer by simply walking around with ringtones and wallpapers that express my personal attitude around the city. So here are some examples of my picks in the larger scheme of cultural jamming:

Olympics Fireworks As Real As Lord Of The Rings, A Masterpiece on Ur Phone
Remember that cool visual during the Opening Ceremonies on Friday of a helicopter tracking firework footprints going across the Beijing skyline, leading to the stadium? What a sight it was! Light-emitting diodes (LEDs) were installed across the entire stadium (even the roof!) and a LED screen, measuring 147 meters long and 22 meters wide was placed in the center of the stadium. And for the full futuristic effect, around 44,000 tiny LED beads, all different colors, were embedded within the LED screen as well as in the costumes of the performers.
But sure to tune in for the closing ceremonies, where they promise that everything will be live, legit, and with no special effects. The highlight: a thousand Chinese warriors rise to do battle with real, live dragons, as Sun Tzu reads passages from his book The Art of War. Also, David Copperfield is going to make The Great Wall of China disappear.
My friend is currently dating a charming attractive man. He does wear white skinny jeans, but other than that he's a delight to be around. And where did she meet this delectable fellow? Well none other than Apix , The America's No.1 Mobile Party! I am not suggest that you pay to join the mobile party (though it can't hurt), but i found that the small screen and the semi-anonymity just give your inner romance a nudge.... untill you are smitten.... Totally intriguing
So on August 1st, T-Mobile had a big red carpey event in LA for the new Tony Hawk special edition of the Sidekick LX, meaning there were cameras... and where their are cameras Tila Tequila is sure to follow.
It turns out the media whore was being suprisingly literal, showing up at the event to talk up her new book "Hooking (up) with Tila Tequila": Via TheCellFreak
Another day, another batch of pictures leaked from Miley Cyrus' cell phone.
Dipping back into the same reservoir of stolen pictures he scammed from T-Mobile, Train Req who may also go by the alias K Dollars, released another three Miley Cyrus pictures, this time featuring her in a skimpy blue polka dot bikini and skin tight booty shorts panties. Via TheCellFreak
The NY Times published a story on the Mosquito Ringtone (also known as Teen Buzz) a while ago. Allegedly inaudible to adults, this 17Khz ringtone has become popular among teens looking to be able to send and receive text messages surreptitiously in class. They even included a sample of the ringtone, so you could determine for yourself whether it's audible or not.
